With minimal arm-twisting, I've gotten Saturday off (!!!!), and Cine has pleasantly updated their website to show that this film is in fact playing on Saturday like I want it to. And I get paid on Friday! Not tons, certainly, but it takes away the guilt of paying for something like a movie in a theater.

Move was successful and I'm loving it. The room is much bigger, and it comes with a real bed, which means my back might not always hurt so much, maybe? That, and I'm much less likely to be woken up by spiders/cockroaches/palmetto bugs crawling on my face/arm/ through my hair at 6 am. And there's a birdfeeder outside of my window! So Patrick and I can watch the cardinals come and go. Renee came by last night with ready-bake cookies, and she agreed the house is a definite improvement. Plus, it's much closer to campus and downtown; I haven't tried walking here yet, but I love just being able to walk to class and Walker's and such. Now, it is on North Ave, so it's still not a good idea to get plastered and walk home, but for everything else it's good.

In other news, it's AUGUST!! Which means I start classes again in less than a month! Not cool! I was really starting to enjoy Athens in the summer. Also, I still haven't heard back from McCreary or Evans about registering, and tuition's due in less than a week. Really, guys, you need to do some work here. As excited as I am about Introduction to Chinese, I'm not in a master's program to take a 1000 level class and nothing else. It being August also means I need to get my ass in gear with finishing up loan paperwork and AmeriCorps stuff. And maybe I should start thinking about things like my eventual thesis... I should do one of those, yes? And I should have a very clear idea of what I want that thesis to be, even if the department is purging all of the faculty members I would want to serve as thesis advisors and I REALLY don't want to shift over to the College of Education for it. Whining about the improbability of doing LVS won't help, either. I wish they would offer a semantics course, though. I can sink my teeth into some semantics, and would love to blend that with some L2 acquisition research. Case theory is fun, too, and needs me to check those books back out of the library. (really, it's just lots of fun to have papers with NOM written in the margins)
